Xeriscape Corpus Christi, a nonprofit organization, is seeking volunteers for its next Xeriscape Garden Workday. The event will be held from 8 a.m. until 12 noon Saturday, April 2, 2005 at the Xeriscape Learning Center and Design Garden. The garden is located at the entrance to the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, 1900 N. Chaparral Street.
Master Gardener Leland Johnson oversees the maintenance of the garden and will provide guidance to workday volunteers. Participants are encouraged to bring their own gardening tools.
The Xeriscape Garden is an award-winning project, which demonstrates the benefits of utilizing the 7 principles of Xeriscape. The garden, which is open free of charge year-round, encourages local residents and businesses to develop garden landscapes with plants that use less water than much of the vegetation that many of us have typically used in landscaping projects.
