Things are starting to pop in Downtown Corpus Christi. New shops and
restaurants are opening, Art Galleries are hosting intriguing shows, buildings are
being converted to apartments
its getting pretty exciting down here. So much is happening, in fact, that the dynamic businesses in the area have created a special event to show their stuff
a DOWNTOWN OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, November 6th.
Dozens of businesses throughout the Downtown Area will take part in this
event with special shows, sales, performances, discounts and more. A tour guide will be riding the downtown Trolley Bus all day, giving tips and handing out goodie bundles from participating businesses. It will be a day full of fun and discovery in our citys scenic center.
Created by the newly re-formed HEART OF CORPUS CHRISTI, this day full of
fun includes activities scattered throughout the area. At least five art galleries, most of which are usually open by appointment only, will be hosting art openings and shows all day, complete with light refreshments. Sonjas Restaurant, which is usually closed on Saturday, will open its doors from 2-5 pm to hand out little samples. The areas new Mexico Folk Art shop, El Zocalo, will present readings titled Who Is Frida Kahlo every 30 minutes from 11am to 1:30 pm. Totally Texas will offer sampling of Texas treats along with a prize drawing, Carls Flowers will offer flower arranging demos until 2pm Davids Mens Wear will have a prize drawing, Surf Club Records will have an 11 am Surf Art Award party and a 6pm live instore performance. Westlight Studio will host a slide show of Brenda Miles Photography plus hand made, beaded jewelry by T & C Creations. Studio 421 will feature light refreshments and an art opening while their neighbor, K Space opens for an exhibit titled The Man Show And the hip folks at Yin Yang Fandango/ Tango Tearoom
will host a drum circle at 7pm, plus a store wide sale all day.
Dozens of restaurants will have special coupons in the Goodie Bundles being
handed out in participating businesses and by the Trolley Bus Tour Guide. Expect to snag discounts coupons from Water Street Restaurants, Hook, Line & Sinker, Roberts Jewelers, The Gold Bug, Bettys Trash to Treasures, Aldape Printing Axis Tattoo and many more of the finest shops and dining establishments in Downtown. More businesses in the area are jumping on board every day. This is going to be FUN !
