AIRPORT ART PROJECT NEARS COMPLETION

Corpus Christi International Airport announces the final stages of installation for WHEN THE SUN MEETS THE SEA, a large scale cold casting glass sculpture that will hang in the Hayden W. Head Terminal. At 8 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2004, Chinese born artist Shan Shan Sheng will begin completing the installation of the 42-piece exhibit.

The hanging panels making up the sculpture are comprised of cold cast glass in a variety of different shapes and colors. The artwork will be suspended from the ceiling with stainless steel aircraft cable. Ms. Sheng’s sculptures hang in various facilities across the United States including the Sacramento Public Library, Harvard University, Amoco Corporation in Chicago, Illinois, and the University of Wisconsin. Her work can also been seen in various countries around the world including: China, England, Switzerland and Taiwan. The sculpture is part of the City’s Public Arts Program.
