Seawall Construction Project Update
NEXT PHASE OF WORK ON SEAWALL TO REQUIRE TRAFFIC CHANGES ALONG SHORELINE, OCEAN DRIVE

The City of Corpus Christi Traffic Engineering Office advises residents that Phase III of the seawall construction project will soon begin. As a result, there will be further diversions of traffic along Shoreline Boulevard.

Traffic along the northbound lanes of Ocean Drive will be temporarily diverted around the First United Methodist Church on Ocean Drive beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005. The diversion involves rerouting the northbound lanes of Ocean Drive, west on Buford Street, north on Water Street, around the church and back to the existing northound lanes of Shoreline. At the same time, the existing southbound lanes of Shoreline will be rerouted south on Water Street to Buford Street, continuing east on Buford Street to the Ocean Drive intersection. To expedite traffic, the portion of Water Street between Furman and Buford will become two-lane southbound ONLY.

It is anticipated that the seawall reconstruction project will be completed at about the end of 2006. Once the project is completed, traffic will be returned as normal to both northbound and southbound lanes of Shoreline. Motorists in the area are urged to carefully observe all construction warning signs while the work is underway or, better yet, to use alternate travel routes until the project is completed.
