April 16, 2005: Joe Garza Boxing Club will be hosting a Smoker on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at 2:00pm on the covered basketball court. Admission is $6/person. There will be approximately 30 to 40 amateur bouts that afternoon. For more information, call Joe Garza Recreation Center, 3202 Highland, at 882-1408.

April 22, 2005: Friday Night Flicks offers a movie at twilight for the community to enjoy every month. Movies are shown on the basketball court wall via projector. Free popcorn is offered for those in attendance. This month’s feature will be Disney/Pixar animated film starring (voice) Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson and directed by Brad Bird. May 7, 2005: The Clean-Up Crew will be cleaning up the neighborhood in and around Joe Garza Recreation Center, 3202 Highland. On May 7th, at 10:00am everyone is encouraged to take pride in his or her community and help clean. Reflector vests, trash bags, and trash pickers will be provided. Year-round Program: The Joe Garza Teen Center is open to teens ages 13-18 Monday through Friday, from 6pm–8pm at the Joe Garza Recreation Center, 3204 Highland. Teens are invited to bring friends and enjoy playing pool, reading a book, study homework, play ping-pong, or just watch one of the many movies provided by our staff.
