VISUALS: Apron-clad members of the Buc Days BBQ Challenge and representatives from Wells Fargo will provide the College’s Office of Development and the Del Mar College Foundation, Inc. with a check for $1,000 toward matching funds to support the education of students who plan to attend Del Mar to study culinary arts or welding.

FYI: From marauding pirate queens, fireworks and a carnival to parades, a rodeo and other festive activities, Buccaneer Days means revelry across Corpus Christi. The Buccaneer Commission, Inc. holds the month-long event for a good cause. Proceeds from Buccaneer Days benefit the Buccaneer Commission College Scholarship Program, which awards scholarships to local high school girls.

“Wells Fargo donated $1,000 to the Buc Days BBQ Challenge for scholarships at Del Mar,” says Barry Box, director of the Buccaneer Commission. “So we are donating that money in the name of the Buc Days BBQ Challenge and Wells Fargo to support scholarships for the College’s culinary arts and welding programs.”

The College’s Foundation will match those funds and determine how best to funnel them to students majoring in the two programs designated by the Commission.

Buc Days runs April 8 through May 5 this year.
